Ceramides
Ceramides are the main structural lipids of the skin, forming what we commonly call the “cement” that keeps the cells of the stratum corneum together and orderly, together with cholesterol and fatty acids. They make up 50% of the hydrolipidic barrier, so keeping them at an adequate level helps us to reinforce, restore and even fill wrinkles. Over time, their production level decreases, causing a destructuring in the barrier that implies greater dryness, sensitivity, propensity to redness… Maintaining a balance and adding them to the routine can prevent the loss of elasticity and improve hydration.
